This breed is registered in the AKC as a non-sporting breed of dog. The dogs of this type are extremely muscled and heavy-boned; their movements are strong and driving. They are large growing to be 15-21 inches tall, weighting up to 80 lbs. Their body is large and box-shaped, with a square skull, broad and deep chest, and muscular shoulders and legs. The tail is usually docked. The jaws are normally massive, very broad, square and undershot. The teeth are large and strong, with the tusks wide apart, and the six small teeth in front, between the canines, in a level row.
